Does being a British citizen make you British?

You can live and work in the UK free of any immigration controls if you’re a British citizen. You can also get a UK passport.

Does having a British passport make you a citizen?

Having a British passport doesn’t mean you’re a citizen either. British citizens, overseas territories citizens, overseas citizens, subjects, nationals (overseas) and protected persons can all apply for a passport.

Can I enter UK on expired UK passport?

You can always enter the UK as a British citizen,even with an expired passport. The immigration officer should be able to check the database on his computer,and you will be straight through.

What happens to my BRP when I become a British citizen?

After all, the BRP will show that you are entitled to reside in the UK and hasn’t expired. Once you have attended the citizenship ceremony or received your certificate of British citizenship you cannot hold onto the BRP and travel with it once you.

Can a UK citizen be taxed in the US?

Article 17(1) says pensions are taxed by the UK when received by a UK resident. If that UK resident is a US citizen as well, then since Article 17(1) is not exempt from the savings clause, they can be taxed by the IRS as well.
